EndItAll lets you easily terminate in one shot all non-essential programs that are currently running in Windows95/98/NT. The EndItAll main window will display a list of running programs just as the CTRL+ALT+DEL "Close Programs" does, and one can either protect or unprotect any program on the list except for Explorer and Systray from there. You then can can terminate all the progams that are unprotected. This is particular useful during installation of new software or when you are trying to trobleshoot.

Forget Smart Tags; TopText Is Doing What You Feared. TopText, the system from eZula causes yellow hyperlinks to appear under certain words on web pages, if you have the software installed. It being included with other software programs and is similar to the "adware" concept but it works within your browser instead of the host software.

The problem with TopText and other software that create these highlighted links on web pages is that they rip off the owners of the web page by generating revenue (those keyword links are paid for by advertisers) that does not go to the owner of the site. They also remove control of the content from the owner by associating those highlighted links with web pages that are off topic, exploitive or in some cases off-color. The term for this new category of software is "scumware" and Scumware.com is dedicated to informing the public of the dangers of scumware. A visit to this site allows you to detect scumware and tells you how to remove it. Another example of scumware is Gator which has recently added a feature which allows them to cover up legitimate banners on web pages with banners for their own advertisers.
