How Operating Systems Work. The operating system defines our computing experience. It's the first software we see when we turn on the computer, and the last software we see when the computer is turned off. It's the software that enables all the programs we use. The operating system organizes and controls the hardware on our desks and in our hands, yet most users can't say with any certainty precisely what it is that the operating system does.

Delivery Guaranteed. What's in a name? For advertisers, the answer is: everything. As we've seen over the past few years, dot-coms can go belly-up buying ads to raise brand awareness. Despite the perils, this trend will continue for some time, and we'll see more and more money spent on wacky offline ad campaigns. Only when enough companies fail to secure venture capital or realize this approach isn't working will the real future evolve: direct marketing.
