Smartship.com is a free online shipping service that lets you know what the
cheapest, fastest package shipping service (FedEx, UPS, AirborneExpress,
etc.) is between two points. The below information is from their website.
1. Registration is free!
There is absolutely no charge to register. Registration simply helps to
streamline the shipping process by allowing SmartShip to pre-fill many of
the forms on our web site for you.
2. SmartShip makes shipping packages quicker!
Since all your shipping information will be saved in our system, you will
never have to enter the same information twice. For example, after using
SmartShip to send a package to someone once, you only need to select their
name from a drop-down menu for all future shipments. You can print your
label and arrange a pickup in less than one minute! You can even choose an
alternate "from" address in case you need it.
3. SmartShip keeps track of your shipment history!
For your convenience, SmartShip will keep a log of all shipments you have
sent, and will automatically track your packages for you if they are sent
through our web site!
4. Free e-mail notification of your package's delivery status!
Packages shipped via SmartShip are now easy to track. SmartShip will e-mail
you, the recipient, and even a third party at certain points in the delivery
process. If you arrange for a package pickup, the recipient will be notified
that the package is now on its way, and you will be notified when the
package has been delivered.
5. SmartShip is accessible from anywhere!
As long as you have Internet access, you can access your shipping
information from any location in the world.
6. SmartShip can track all your packages!
Even when you have not shipped via SmartShip, you can track any package you
have sent via Airborne, FedEx, UPS, or the U.S. Postal Service provided that
you have the tracking number.
7. You don't need to keep track of SmartShip tracking numbers!
If you have shipped via SmartShip, you do not have to remember your
package's tracking number. Simply log in to our web site and click on the
"Shipment History" button, where you can easily view all your tracking
information!

I was at the library last week looking through some dead tree publications
(print magazines) looking for topics to discuss at our monthly 37211 PC
Users Group meeting. I found a real gem of a publication "Home Office
Computing". I found several articles worth keeping. I recommend that you peruse their website even if you don't decide to subscribe to the magazine.
