2) Software Review

If you are a power user who is continually multitasking or opening and closing programs, then you will sometimes have crashes due to the fact that those programs are not returning all the resources back to the stack upon closing. This dwindling stack of resources will eventually cause a crash to occur. This can be prevented by continuously monitoring the resources and then rebooting when they get too low.
AntiCrash 2K (731kb) is a FREE Windows utility that runs as a TSR and ensures that when a program is terminated that the resources it uses are automatically returned. I have installed this software on my Windows 98 system and it works exceptionally well. I ran several programs at once and intentionally got the resource stack down to 6% (not recommended!) and then closed all the programs. I actually gained 1% on my default stack. I then went through a 16 hour straight day of computing (my computer is a muti-user machine) with out rebooting. At the end of the day I had lost only 2% of my default stack. This one is definitely a keeper! ----------------------------------------------------------------

3) Free Software and Services

InfoRapid Search & Replace. This was sent to me by Jack and is a powerful text search and retrieval program. The search results are viewed in a page that lists the files and also shows a short contextual line for each instance of the text string it finds in those files. It also has a built in converter for HTM and RTM files so that you can view those files as a text documents. It has many other useful features. Another addition to my toolbox!
