1) Administrative Announcements:

In this issue under "Articles:" is a tip wriiten by Roger Imai that is now hosted on the 37211 web site. If you want to put an article on the web site, then just e-mail me your article. I will look at it and do any needed HTML coding. I will then let you review the page for your final approval before it is posted to the newsletter or possibly even the reference desk page!

I am adding a new section to the newsletter called "The Forum". It presents a topic for discussion and then directs the readers to our new 37211 discussion forum hosted by EZboard. It doesn't require any sign up in order to post a reply.

I have updated the menu on the 37211 PC Users web pages to include a page on E-commerce called "The E-Biz Page" http://pcusers.org/pcebix.html.

At the bottom of the newsletter a privacy statement and a disclaimer have been added. They have also been included in the newsletter home page at: http://pcusers.org/pcnewsletter.htm

uReach.com’s all-in-one communication service offers a single destination from which you can send, receive, and manage all your calls, voicemail, email, faxes and pages. You can access the service over the web or via your free toll-free number (uNumber™).
The service’s uReachMe technology enables consumers to automatically transfer incoming calls from their uNumber to any phone. This phone number can be changed at any time from the phone or the web. Or, if the member prefers, uReach.com can take a message and notify them via pager, ICQ or an alternate email address. Members can call their uNumber to check voicemail messages, have email read to them over the phone, manage incoming faxes, and access their calendar and address book.
The basic uReach.com service offers 30 minutes of uReach.com phone time each month (60 minutes during the first month only) and the web site offers unlimited free access. Additional phone minutes can be purchased for approximately 8-10 cents a minute, varying by amount purchased. Premium services will also be offered for an additional charge.

Roger told me about this utility from Microsoft. It takes snapshots of the entire contents of any directory on your machine. It displays important information about all files and subdirectories such as version, size, date, and attributes. It also lets you compare two images to determine how the files in a target directory have changed. This would be good to use just prior to making an upgrade so that you would have a ready reference to see what changes were made.

7) The Forum:
Some of the members have complained that during the past few months there appears to an anti-microsoft bias at the group meetings. Is this a justified observation? If true, then is it fair? What is it that you like or dislike about Microsoft?
