Just a few "Golden Nuggets" of info that I've mined from the internet.

This Web site submission software lets you hand submit your URL to all the
main search engines in less than an hour. There are two heuristics for
search engine submissions: The first, is that a handful of search engines
will provide 95% of all search engine traffic; the second, is that one
should avoid automatic submissions. This software, which includes a light
weight browser, takes you rapidly to the submission page of the most
important search engines, and lets you submit manually once you are there.
It's free, 209KB, for Windows 95/98/NT, but needs MS IE 4.0 or higher
installed on your computer.

Here's a new way to save space on your crowded desk -- use a keyboard,
video, and mouse switch that lets you control more than one PC with only one
keyboard, one monitor, and one mouse. IOGear's MiniView performs this
function, and there's even a model that lets you control both PCs and Macs
off the same switch.

The X10 folks are introducing their FireCracker home control kit for the
cost of shipping. They want you to see just how easy computer-controlled
lights and appliances can be.

Tip #1
The Hardware Information Utility is a part of the Windows 98 OS. At Start|Run, enter in the box without quotes "hwinfo /ui" (observe the space). You can modify the view options in several ways, one of which is to display those devices with which you are currently experiencing problems. It is color coded to display problem areas and potential problems. This is ideal for advanced trouble shooting. Bright Red displays problems and bright Blue is for potential problems.
Tip #2
The easiest way to create a full-screen capture in Win95, 98 or NT 4.0 is
still by pressing the Print Screen key. That action sends a copy of the
screen to the Clipboard. To view the capture, select Start/Run, type mspaint
and press Enter.
Once Paint opens, select Edit/Paste to paste the image from the Clipboard
into the Paint window. Choose File/Save As to name and save it as a BMP
file. (If Paint isn't installed on your PC, you can use another image
program, or install Paint from the Add/Remove Programs applet. Open the
Windows Setup tab, double-click on Accessories, select Paint and click on
OK.)

Web development:

SiteSpeed benchmarks your site against others -- any other sites you choose,
as many comparisons as you wish. Repeat your tests automatically as many
times as you wish, to reduce 'noise.' Results are sorted by total site
output (delivered bytes per second).

A new State law forbids telemarketers from calling consumers who get on the "Do Not Call” list. Write to the Tennessee Regulatory Authority at 460 James Robertson Parkway, Nashville, 37243-0505. Attention “do not call.” Or you can call them at 741-2904. The service is free (paid by fees from the phone solicitors) and will start later this year. This will be of particular benifit to those who have a single telephone line shared with your modem.

Company to offer free DSL. Probably too good to be true but it does indicate
that low cost high speed access is in the near future. The estimated 100 to
150 billion spent on Y2K preparedness can now be spent instead on internet
technology. See this article for more info:
